EcoFlow WAVE 3 Portable AC Review 2026: How Cool Is It Really?

The WAVE 3 in One Sentence
A 1,158 BTU portable air conditioner that runs off any EcoFlow power station (or wall outlet), cools tents up to 40 sq ft, and weighs just 26 lbs. No generator required.
Cooling Performance: What Our Thermometer Said
We set up the WAVE 3 inside a 3-person tent on a 92°F afternoon:
- 30-minute temp drop: 92°F → 74°F (inside tent)
- 1-hour steady state: Maintained 72–75°F with occasional door openings
- Noise level: 42 dB (about as loud as a library whisper) — significantly quieter than window AC units
- Power draw: Average 280–320W on 'cool' mode; 180W on 'fan-only'
These numbers are impressive for a portable unit. The WAVE 3 uses a compressor-based system (not Peltier/thermoelectric), which means actual cooling — not just moving air around.
Power Requirements: Which Station Do You Need?
| Power Source | Runtime (cool mode) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DELTA 3 (1,024Wh) | ~3 hours | Best value for most campers |
| DELTA 3 Max (2,048Wh) | ~6 hours | All-day cooling + other devices |
| DELTA Pro 3 (4,000Wh) | ~12+ hours | Overkill for AC alone but great for full-camp power |
| Wall outlet (AC) | Unlimited | Use with extension cord at campsites with hookups |
Important: always add 20% headroom to your station's capacity. The WAVE 3's compressor has a startup surge around 450W.
Setup & Usability
The WAVE 3 installs in about 5 minutes: position it near the tent opening, connect the exhaust hose (vents hot air outside), plug into your station or wall, and press the button on the unit or the EcoFlow app. The app lets you schedule cooling times, set temperature targets, and monitor power consumption.
- Hose length: 5 ft (extendable to 8 ft with accessory)
- Drainage: condensate collects in a built-in tray — empty every 2–3 hours in humid conditions
- Window kit included: fits tent mesh windows and small RV windows
