Safety Built Into the Design

Pre-Ride Safety Checklist

Operating Safely on the Water
- Maintain safe distance: Stay 50+ feet from other vessels, swimmers, docks, and shorelines at speed. Reduce to idle speed within 25 feet.
- Observe right-of-way rules: Even though the Kart Boat is small and slow, maritime right-of-way rules apply. Powerboats generally yield to sailboats, rowed vessels, and vessels restricted in maneuverability.
- No sharp turns at speed: The Kart Boat's jet drive responds quickly, but sharp turns at full throttle can cause instability. Decelerate before turning sharply.
- Watch for wake rebound: Near docks and seawalls, your jet wash bounces back. Approach perpendicular to walls, not parallel.
- Respect wildlife: Maintain distance from birds (especially nesting waterfowl), fish spawning areas, and marine mammals. Electric motors are quieter — wildlife may not notice you approaching.
For riders under 18: Parental supervision is mandatory. We recommend 12+ as the minimum operating age, but maturity and swimming ability matter more than calendar age.
Emergency Procedures
- If you fall off: The auto-cutoff should stop the boat immediately. Swim to the surface, signal your spotter. The boat drifts slowly — swim to it and climb back over the stern (lowest freeboard point).
- If the boat capsizes: Stay with the boat. It's designed to float (even inverted in most cases). Signal for help. Do not attempt to right it alone in deep water.
- If someone else needs help: Throw a flotation device (you packed one, right?). Call 911 or VHF Channel 16. Do not attempt a water rescue beyond your training.
- Electrical issue / smoke: Evacuate immediately. The battery system is sealed and LFP chemistry is far less fire-prone than lithium-ion, but treat any smoke or burning smell as an emergency.
